2008 Hybrid Vehicles Explained

In 2008 hybrid vehicles are expected to auto 2.5% – 2.8% market share of new vehicles sold. And like 2007, in 2008 Toyota Prius hybrid again leads the pack accounting for fifty percent of all 2008 hybrid vehicles sold. People decide this car because they get more fuel efficient gas or electric hybrid recovers energy from the braking system when the brakes are applied can uses that energy to charge a battery.

Many other car manufacturers like Honda, Chevy, and Ford, marketed fuel efficient hybrids in 2008 with limited success. But their efforts continue as the industry goes green.

Nowadays Toyota uses Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries in the Prius and other 2008 Hybrid vehicles.

Toyota with its technology “Hybrid Synergy Drive,” used in the 1997-2003 Toyota Prius. But the name was changed to accommodate usage outside the Toyota brand.  Toyota describes HSD-equipped vehicles as having E-CVT (Electronically-controlled Continuously Variable Transmission).

Toyota is probable to continue leading other manufacturers in fuel efficient automobiles.  With a goal of achieving 90 miles per gallon, Toyota will be introducing lighter material and plug-in Lithium-Ion batteries.

Honda call it’s technology “Integrated Motor Assist,” was first established on the Insight in 1999. It employs an electric motor mounted between the engine and transmission. They use a parallel drivetrain.

As a result of more and tougher emissions standards, GM spokesman predicted that four out of five cars sold in the year 2020 will be fuel efficient hybrids.
