The White House takes steps toward improving the efficiency of American vehicles and offers support for electric-drive vehicles on Friday, May 21, 2010. Is a coincidence that the new drive for efficiency in vehicles comes as the impact of oil spills in the Gulf reaching disaster proportions? Absolutely not.

And the President takes some specific action to resolve this problem. First, Obama signed a Memorandum of the President to the Department of Transportation and the EPA orders them to draft a policy to increase fuel efficiency for heavy trucks and medium-duty.

The standards that will mark the first time that large commercial truck will have the fuel to meet national economic targets. The combination of these new rules for medium and heavy trucks, with a target of fuel efficiency about 35.5 MPG for vehicles in 2016 was in a push-books plus the President to a higher standard from 2017 to 2025 – and you can see the tiny glasses from genuine effort by the President administration to make a dent in the US’s addiction to gasoline.

Mixed Messages on Drilling

The President also called on the DOE (Department of Energy) to expand electric cars’ incentives. Aka, there is a tax credit about $ 2,500 – $ 7,500 to purchase an electric car, and $ 4,000 to convert hybrids to plug-in hybrid car. This credit is scheduled to phase after an automobile manufacturer to build 200 000 electric battery, and after December 31, 2011 for a plug-in hybrid conversions. Only with these incentives that place for at least several years, the movement of electric car would be rapidly and certain.

Forget for a moment that the administration of Obama refuses to rule out expansion of offshore drilling. Many speculated that the Obama’s decision to open most of the eastern coastal areas to oil exploration is not so much mean a change of heart on the issue as a concession to the oil industry and its supporters.

Concessions that may be a political move to offset encourage the President to the automotive alternative-especially when most of the errors shown in the administration to allow the spill to continue day after day. The main question is how far President Barrack Obama is willing to go to support real change in energy policy.

What is Alternative Energy – Part 2

There are many of alternative energy that we can harness if we want to save our Earth with a green technology. We can get away from the gasoline, old electrical grids, or other fossil fuels by turning to alternative energy. And in my previous article we have talk about WIND – SOLAR – OCEAN – HYDRO POWER. In this article I will explain the other;

GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

What is geothermal energy? Geothermal energy is produced by the heating of water through the actions of fantastically of Earth hot molten core. (This alternative energy is extremely abundant, since it lies directly beneath our feet, just a few miles under the surface of the Earth). We can harness the water that turns to steam and used to drive turbines engines which in turn generate electricity. I think, in the future, government and scientist must give a great attention to research and development this alternative energy.

WASTE GAS ENERGIES

This alternative energy is very fantastic. This waste gas energy is used in fuel cells and can be used in conventional gasoline generators too. This energy, which is essentially methane, reverses the usual energy pollution relationship by creating energy from waste that lies in the dump or from air pollutants.

ETHANOL

As an alternative energy, there is controversy over this fuel with regards to it’s ever becoming truly economize and can be practical in much localized areas. But this alternative energy, which created from such things as grapes, wheat, corn, strawberries, sugarcane, and even wood cellulose or wood chips. Even though there is some controversy about this alternative energy, technologies for its admixture and extraction are continuously being refined.

BIODIESEL ENERGY

This alternative energy is come from the oil contained in plants. So far, the commercial stores of biodiesel have been created using rapeseed, sunflower oils, and soybean. Firstly, this alternative energy is typically produced by people or individual who want to experiment and have entrepreneurial minded, but now some companies give interest in this alternative energy. In fact this energy burns much cleaner than oil based diesel.

ATOMIC ENERGY

This very fantastic energy is coming in atomic energy plants using the process of nuclear fission. This energy is extremely efficient and can produce gigantic amounts of power.

Besides Alternative Energy, there are other articles by Johan Young you may interest continue in reading: BMW X6, Hybrid Car Prices, Hybrid Car Comparisons, and Alternative Energy-1.

According my previous articles – alternatives energy-1 and alternatives energy-2, there many different form in which alternative energy is available. And one of these alternative energy is solar energy. Solar energy is power by photovoltaic cells. Photovoltaic cells are getting less expensive (gradually) and also getting more efficient.

This alternative energy can be used for heating, making hot water, electricity, and many more.

In reality, solar energy power is very eco friendly and good for the environment. Its produces no pollution – absolutely zero emissions, as its input comes completely from the sun rays. However, in order to economically harness the sun’s rays, the experts or scientists much more work still needs to be done. Nowadays maybe the resource is a little to conditional – we must backups used storage batteries as backups in the evenings and on inclement days.

For this time, some big-name company have made it interesting clear. They are also active in this action and using solar energy power as their economicall viable alternative energy source. WalMart wants to put in a huge number of solar power energy – about 100 megawatt. Google also participate in this action with putting in a 1.6 megawatt solar power generation plant on the roof of its corporate headquarters.

There are many of alternative energy that we can harness if we want to save our Earth with a green technology. We can get away from the gasoline, old electrical grids, or other fossil fuels by turning to alternative energy.

WIND POWER

And WIND POWER is the one of these alternative energy resources. Many country, for example Netherland, has developed this ‘wind farm’ that are progressively more energy efficient and less costly. Moreover, they have even become more strategically placed over time to shelter birds as former wind turbines did.

SOLAR ENERGY

Solar energy is another alternative energy resource that is most well known. This involves the solar cells manufacturing which gather and focus the energy that has the sun directly given, and then translate it into hot water, electronic, AC. The advantage of this alternative energy is same with wind power and absolutely zero pollution.

OCEAN ENERGY

Basically, there are enormous alternative energy from ocean wave as seen by the investors and the governments. In France, the government has been in operation with their generator for many years ago and is considered to be a huge success. And now, Scots and Irish try to follow France to exploit this alternative energy.

HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER

Another alternative energy source is hydro-electric power. This alternative energy has been developed as a part to reduce carbon emissions. Hydro-electric power is a powerful generator of electricity and cleaner than a grid. But this alternative power is certain limitations to the availability of the right places to set up a large dam. Fortunately governments has a great attention about environmental issues, they have been set up hydro-electric generators in recent times due to this limitation (many run of the river, localized, or small).

What is Alternative Energy
