Audi A6 Hybrid Coming Soon

Info we get from Audi press release to say that Audi will soon release a hybrid version of Audi A6 Hybrid. This Audi hybrid will make their debut in early 2011. With their slogan ‘The Audi A6 Hybrid Provides the power of a V6, combined with the fuel efficiency of a four-cylinder engine,’ this car will definitely get the attention of users in an environmentally conscious vehicle.

Audi A6 Hybrid
Audi A6 Hybrid adopts a hybrid that fits perfectly with the Q5 Hybrid. This hybrid can produce 245 horsepower with it’s a 2-liter engine and electric motor combine via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The top speed of Audi A6 Hybrid is maxes at 148 mph but the acceleration is a tiny bit slower at 0 – 62 miles per hour in 7.3 seconds, but the top speed maxes at 148 mph. More importantly, the company expects combined city-highway mileage that translates to the mid- to low-30s in United State testing.

That’s a great jump from the current A6′s mid-20s, but these numbers (and plans) must be taken with a grain of salt, if you see the master plan VW hybrid and electric companies. VW Touareg Hybrid promised to launch in 2010, but in November no sales were reported, and only a few weeks left in the month. (VW Jetta 2012 announced plans for the Hybrid, as well as gasoline-electric version of the Passat and the Golf in 2013.)

Volkswagen plans electric pure hard just to find out. Earlier this year, Volkswagen makes a big splash when it announced three electric cars by 2013-E-Up! city car, as well as Golf and Jetta power plants. But at the launch of the U.S. media for E-Golf, which was attended PluginCars.com last month, Volkswagen retreated significantly. Audi pulled the company has a plug-in hybrid and electric car plans.

Audi will deliver on luxury hybrid sedan that gets mileage in the low 30s – my hope and question.. That, of course, is a question that is less important than if VW and Audi will make broader changes to the efficiency and electrification. In one positive sign, the company last month said they were “assigned” the center of the development of a new 150,000 square meters, where 840 employees who work on hybrids and EVs. The company said it has invested $ 90 million facility for two years.

Audi A3 TDI Win 2010 Green Car of the Year

This is a great story. Today, the compact Audi A3 TDI was crowned as the winner of 2010 Green Car of the Year at the 2009 LA Auto Show. They wrestling the title away from the Volkswagen Jetta TDI – the last year’s winner. The award was presented to Johan de Nysschen (as the Audi’s United State chief) at a ceremony in LA.

And the 2010 Green Car of the Year award notice us as the ‘green car lovers’ that this is the second year in a row the clean diesel vehicle has risen to the top and become as the 2010 Green Car of the Year. In this year ‘competition,’ Audi A3 TDI has ‘beat’ the Mercury Milan Hybrid, Toyota Prius, Honda Insight Hybrid, along with the clean diesel VW Golf TDI.

The 2010 Audi A3 TDI not bring big different from the 2009 model. Like model of the 2009, Audi will continue to draw power from the same advanced clean diesel powertrain. This Audi car, with four cylinder engine, will produce 140 hp and 236 pound feet of torque. Expect fantastic off-the-line acceleration and performance from the engine—which is mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Fighting Words

This Audi car is perhaps better compared with the Volvo C30 and Mini Cooper in the sport compact luxury segment – consider the Audi A3 a hybrid fighter, particularly putting the new version of the Honda Insight and the Toyota Prius in its sights.

When the price of diesel is more expensive than premium unleaded gasoline, it will be a potential downside for consumers – maybe. But that deterrent is counter balanced by strong performance, a plush ride, a cabin with loads of high-end upgrades and amenities, and of course with a great fuel economy too.

Audi Diesel Expects Big Gains in US Market

Audi Expects Big Gains for Diesels in US: Audi believes it can achieve big sales in the US market with diesel powertrains. It believes it can sell 20 – 25 percent of its vehicles. The president of Audi of America, Johan de Nysschen, said that the Audi Q7 as the first diesel company in the US, could represents as much as 35 percent of Audi Q7 sales.

<img src="http://www.1st-in-hybrid.com/images/audi-q7.jpg"alt="audi q7"title="audi q7">

The executive was speaking about diesels at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show’s press roundtable—while on the display area, Audi and automakers are shining spotlights on their electric concept cars. Plug-in hybrid cars and Electric cars, which offer the chance for zero or near-zero tailpipe emissions, represent a more radical shift in technology—while diesel engines are about 25 to 40 percent more fuel-efficient than their conventional gasoline car.

Advanced fuel-efficient technologies—whether diesel, electric or hybrid—represent additional cost. Audi CEO Rupert Stadler said, “I think the problem is that we don’t really have an honest discussion, there is a very, very high level of investment, and nobody today knows if the return will come.”

Nonetheless, Audi and European automakers are willing to make the necessary investments in diesel—and back it up with ad campaigns to promote diesel’s benefits. The car companies face an uphill countering in dispelling Americans’ view that diesel is dirty, noisy, expensive, and unsophisticated.

In June, Audi ads took over the home pages of Politico.com, Huffingtonpost.com, Slate.com, and other progressive news sites with its diesel message. The campaign—“Diesel, It’s No Longer a Dirty Word”—features rusty oil drums rolling down streets, seemingly being repatriated onto tankers. According to Audi, if one-third of US drivers drove clean diesels, it would mean the US could “send back” 1.5 million barrels of imported oil per day.

Scott Keogh, chief marketing officer of Audi of America said, “We looked at it as a political campaign, we wanted to make diesel a much bigger idea that people could rally around.” Koeogh is planning a follow-up campaign in the fall to promote the introduction fo the Audi A3 TDI diesel hatchback.
