What is hybrid? This question might be the first thing that slashed in your mind. Although this technology has been invented years ago, it only has been released to the market less than 5 years. So what is hybrid? It’s a combination of two kinds of systems in the similar device.

The users could use one of them as the regular system and the other one as the backup. The hybrid technology has been applied in many sectors such as cell phones and cars. It would be a long explanation to explain what is hybrid.

To know about what is hybrid, we should know the definition of the hybrid itself. Basically, hybrid is a combination of two different things in a single thing. We should figure out some examples to know what is hybrid. The hybrid car is the excellent example.

This is the kind of car that uses double power system. The first system is the regular system with the combustion of fuel, and the other system is the rechargeable system such as battery. That would be the decent example of what is hybrid.

To learn more about what is hybrid, we got to know the system works. In hybrid system, the car would be using double energy source system. People has decided to know more about what is hybrid after the issue of the lacking energy sources in the world has been spread in all over the world. To learn more about what is hybrid, we could visit some web pages.

On those pages, we could read some articles that were mainly discussed about what is hybrid. You could ask about what is hybrid in some online forums and you could also figure out, what are the benefits of using the hybrid car.

Since gasoline engines have caused a the rising costs of fuel and the environmental damage, people are now starting to rely on electric power which has zero emission and are more fuel efficient.

Obama on Leno on Hybrid Vehicles

A hybrid vehicle runs on both gasoline and electrical power. Electric power is generated from an electric motor. The definition of a hybrid vehicle is one that runs on two forms of energy. In the case of hybrid vehicles, most of them use both gasoline and electric energy. One new hybrid vehicle that is scheduled to be introduced to the public in 2011 is the Chevy Volt.

Latest news is that made in Detroit, April 1 (Reuters) – General Motors Corp (GM.N) has asked for $2.6 billion of low interest government loans to support the development of three new hybrid vehicles, according to a business plan update released on Wednesday.

New Hybrid Vehicle Technology

Second generation series technology is on the foreseeable horizon (2010, for instance). Series technology may be able to revolutionize the hybrid industry even further. What is series technology? Should your new hybrid vehicle purchase decision wait until these models are available?

Series technology is very different from current hybrid vehicle technology. These cars will still contain an electric motor and an ICE; however, the ICE will no longer provide any power for the vehicle’s wheels. The new hybrid vehicle will be capable of traveling for up to 40 miles without using fuel.

Once that 40-mile mark has been reached, the ICE will switch on, charging the batteries, which in turn supply the motor with the charge required to move the car down the road.

This has a tremendous advantage over the current new hybrid vehicle technology. While it may be another year or so, waiting for these models to make their debut it may be worth the wait and the best choice for your needs.

Before the invention of internal combustion engines, electric automobile were the way to go. Electric automobile history dates back to the early part of the 19th century at which time batteries were used to promote electric vehicles. As a matter of fact, the 1867 World Exhibition featured electric vehicles. An electric car broke the previously set speed barrier of 60 in 1899.

new electric automobile

Oddly enough, we are now going back to electric automobile history to move forward as the demand for alternate means of energy is needed to fuel our vehicles. The rising cost of oil prices coupled with concern for the environment has made the concept of electric automobile much more endearing to the public. Because this technology has already been used, auto makers can now look back to electric automobile history as a way to move forward in the future when it comes to car energy

In fact the idea of electric automobile has been present even before the gasoline engine was invented. There is electric automobile history that is dating back to the 1800s at which time automobile manufacturers were trying to perfect the use of the automobile. Today, we look back at automobile history when we take a lesson for the future and try to come up with automobiles that run on energy other than gasoline.

The competition to give us with affordable plug in vehicles has a wild card. China with its BYD, the largest Chinese automaker, backed by investment guru Warren Buffet, makes a great combination of powerful forces – an enormous burgeoning low cost production, battery expertise, and domestic market – gives credence to the company’s plans to sell millions of hybrid-electric cars within just a few years. That’s if BYD can ‘conquer’ its challenges and technical problems. And that’s a big if.

According the Wall Street Journal’s is reporting that BYD’s e6 all electric cars is barely ready for the United State market – in spite of plans to carry the vehicle to the United State next year. An expert – tech chief of a global auto car – test drive the car and said that this hybrid plug-in car such a half-baked car. He said that the handling was ‘squishy’ and the ride was ‘rough.’ I think BYD will have a hard time selling the e6 hybrid plug in car at the predictable price of United State $45,000 – if the quality problems persist.

The Wall Street Journal explained that BYD does not have a good track record in keeping promises on product launches. Some industry analysts suspect there may be technical glitches plaguing its green vehicles, which include a hybrid plug in car called the F3DM, in addition to the e6.

According to Gasgoo, a website reporting on the Chinese auto industry, describe how BYD became the first automaker in the world to sell a hybrid plug in car, the F3DM, but sold fewer than 100 through August.

Yet, the promises keep coming.

What is a Hybrid Vehicle – One of the main contributors of pollution is cars. Transportation is a necessity so this problem is not easy to solve. Scientists and automotive companies have come up with a solution for environmental conscious customers. Hybrid vehicles were created to answer environmental issues and provide alternatives for customers.

best hybrid cars

What is a Hybrid Vehicle?

A hybrid vehicle is a type of automobile that depends on different power sources other than fuel (ex. diesel, petrol). A hybrid electric vehicle is a vehicle that is a combination of a rechargeable energy storage system or RESS and a traditional propulsion system. It saves more fuel and also covers more distance compared to battery electric vehicles since charging is done through a variety of methods instead of a lone external source. The propulsion power systems of various hybrid electric engines may be composed of the same parts or subsystems.

Usual hybrid electric models have an internal combustion engine as well as electric batteries that support the main electric motors. The mechanisms of the hybrid vehicle have improved significantly with the discovery of regenerative braking wherein kinetic energy can be stored. Fuel is conserved more and emission is minimized as much as possible. Drivers get to cover longer ranges as well without worrying about speed and performance.

These vehicles are able to achieve this purpose in four ways. It shuts down the diesel engine during stops or idle periods. It has a battery storage that enables it to store and reuse the energy that it has recaptured. It’s able to recapture energy that is usually wasted while breaking. It relies on two power sources, the diesel engine and the electric motors to reduce fuel consumption during peak power usage.

Automotive companies today are continually developing this technology to be able to cater environmental friendly cars and deliver quality brand vehicles at the same time. They are turning to popular type of vehicles such as SUV’s to expand the appeal of hybrid technology.

Hybrid vehicles were designed to reduce emissions and save fuel. With the continuing rise of gas prices and global warming campaigns, more people are searching for alternatives to decrease dependence on fuel. This technology will also contribute to the general health of the public because car emissions pose a threat to one’s health.

This type of vehicle is very convenient for traffic ridden areas. It also reduces noise emissions when the vehicle is operating at low speeds. Hybrid vehicles are practical and convenient cars for everyday living in the city.

Hybrid vehicles have gone through many changes over the years. Ever since the Toyota Prius came out, bigger and more equipped hybrids were released. The Ford Escape hybrid came out in 2004, which jumpstarted the production of luxury hybrid cars. Apart from Toyota, Honda and Ford other automobile companies such as Mazda, Nissan and recently Lexus and Chevrolet have manufactured their own hybrid creations.

Early hybrid vehicles were limited to manual transmissions and air-conditioning. The best thing that they could do at the time of Toyota Prius was add a multiple CD changer. Nowadays customers have more options with Sports Utility Vehicles and luxury car hybrids. Apart from comfort settings and additional accessories, more formidable propulsion management systems are used.

Hybridization in the present and what lies ahead.

Last year luxury sedans and Sport Utility Vehicles were released. These environment friendly cars were also fitted with all the trappings and perks of a luxury vehicle. Apart from having the latest technology from their manufacturers, such as the Hybrid Synergy System from Toyota, they are also decked out with touch navigational systems, surround sound with DVD and VCD supporting stereo systems, ventilation seats, and multiple CD changers on the dashboard.

Hybrid vehicles released last year have V6 engines such as the Lexus GS 450 and V8 such as the Chevrolet Tahoe. Gear-ratio steering, continuous variable transmission, variable suspension, and regenerative breaking are standard among luxury car hybrids.

Hybrids that will be released in 2008 feature the Cadillac Escalade. It is a two mode hybrid with 6 liter V8 engine with two motors. The Saturn Green Line Vue will also be in the line up that promises to 45% improvement in fuel efficiency. Ford will launch its first hybrid sedan with Mercury Milan Hybrid and 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. Mercedes will also release the hybrid version of their S-class sedan. Porsche also plans to launch its four door coupe called the Panamera, using the same technology as the Cayenne SUV.

If your head is getting dizzy with all the prices of the luxury cars Hyundai will release a hybrid available at around $10,000. This will be the first full hybrid under $20,000. Honda will release a smaller and more affordable hybrid to compete with Toyota who dominates the market.

No matter which hybrid vehicle you will choose, expect more hybrids to come. In time as gas prices soar and the demand for higher emissions regulations are implemented, hybrids will eventually dominate the market because hybrid fuel efficient cars.
