The Disadvantage of Hybrid Cars

Undoubtedly, hybrid vehicles are great and they provide a lot of advantages. Hybrid vehicles will help you to save your gasoline and keeping your wallet always thickJ. These vehicles also have lesser the contribution of your vehicle to the pollutants, greenhouse effect, and global warming than the conventional ones. These are the biggest pros of hybrid vehicles. But as we know, everything under sun cannot escape from “Ying-Yang” effect, something that has advantages, it will have disadvantages too.

The Price of Hybrid Cars

The price of hybrids is the biggest disadvantage of hybrid cars. Usually hybrid cars add $3000 – $5000 to the cost of a conventional car. In most cases, need more than 5 years to break even on saving gas – versus cost of hybrid cars (some people believed that the fuel saving expected in a hybrid car is a bit exaggerated when to compare the total costs of purchasing and maintaining a hybrid car.)

The Safety of Hybrid Cars

Actually, to get more mileage and to save gasoline, hybrid cars are kept small in size and made using light-weight body material, but it will become more vulnerable to serious damage when the vehicle in a collision, big or small. Moreover, besides the driver has a high potential to get electrocuted when involved in a collision, hybrid cars also can be really unsafe when the wire are exploded – they use metal hybride batteries and the hi-voltage that they store that can be become very dangerous when the wires is exploded.

The Battery of Hybrid Cars

Another disadvantage of hybrid car is the high cost of its batteries. – Although the hybrid car manufacturers provides an extended warranties to cover about 80,000 – 100,000 miles. Depending on the hybrid cars model, your battery pack may cost you about $5,000 – $8,000. The other problem with the battery is that you need to recharge it at least every second week – so, if you like travelling or have a frequent travelers, a hybrid is definitely not a good option for you.

The Performance of Hybrid Cars

In reality, most of hybrid vehicles are not exhilarating. If we compared to the conventional gasoline cars, hybrid cars have a lower top-speed and slower acceleration. To put in simple words, hybrid cars won’t satisfy when you are in need for speed. They will make you would not be able to keep pace with their counterparts on the road, which is actually not a bad thing!

Despite all of disadvantage of hybrid cars, hybrid cars are the way to. Hybrid car manufacturers are modified and working to eliminate all of these disadvantages. Now, you will find out more hybrids with the great performance such as BMW X6, Audi Q7, Chevrolet Hybrid, and many more. So, I am sure, all of these disadvantages – slow but sure – will be eliminate. And hybrid cars will be lighter, has a huge performance, and safer.
