Quite a long period of time, almost five years, Hyundai has fought a hard battle to improve the quality of the car. There was a time when the cars produced by Hyundai are not considered to be true and they become low through budgeted choice. Lately, this Korean automaker has managed to beat all these hurdles and ranks at the ‘peak’ as far as quality and build is concerned. In recent times, Hyundai Motor’s chairman was charged with misuse of funds to the tune of $136 million. This misappropriated sum of money was accustomed to generate political sludge fund. According to newspaper information, Hyundai Motor was required to delay important projects as a result of this problem. Amongst the important projects that must be delayed is the construction of Kia’s first plant in the United States and of course the development of hybrid cars too. Towards the end of 2005, in Guangzhou the 3rd international exhibition held annually in China, Hyundai had publicized a hybrid version of one of the car, the Hyundai Accent sub compact. According to Hyundai Motor, this vehicle capable of reaching 90 hp along with a 16 hp electric motor.
The Hyundai Motor, the largest of Korean automaker, promised to boost the fuel economy of this hybrid vehicle by above 40% compared to the conventional Hyundai Accent that provides 32 mpg. Launching Rio Hybrid model together with the Hyundai Accent Hybrid is also intended. Almost of car manufacturers has their own plan or designs for hybrid cars and Hyundai also is developing with its Hyundai Accent Hybrid – its own design. Even if the designs or plans have been put on the freeze, Hyundai Accent Hybrid was estimated to deliver 98 horsepower that would have rough it to beat the Honda Fit Hybrid subcompact that it predicted to achieve 109 hp. Moreover, according to up to date reports, Hyundai Accent Hybrid just deliver 45 mpg – compared to the 60 mpg on the Honda Fit Hybrid.
