Joining the Toyota Yaris and the Honda Fit, The Nissan Versa become as a leader in the growing subcompact class. The Nissan Versa debuted in 2007. This car name came from versa for versatility. Like all others in subcompact class, Nissan Versa emerged out of the need for reliable, fuel efficient commuter vehicles. For 2008 versions, the company adds a few minor equipment revisions.
Nissan Versa’s build quality is in general considered just a notch under that of the Toyota Yaris and Honda Fit, but Versa is superior to all the rest of the subcompact on the marketplace. Besides that, with a combination of compact and a crossover concept, Versa offers more interior room and the greatest ride comfort in this category. Really, it is the largest and most powerful entry level city car.
Nissan Versa dwarfing the Toyota Yaris and Honda Fit with 1.8 liter 4 cylinder engine, Fit and Yaris are both powered by smaller 1.5 liter engines. Its car can produce 122 hp. With a higher power, Versa gives it the competency to merge into fast traffic or to pass on the highway. And off the line, Nissan Versa has quicker launch that’s closer to that of a stronger mid size sedan.
Its manages very good fuel economy (certified as an ULEV-II) but suffer a bit due to its size and upshot of power. EPA’s fuel economy of 24 in the city and 31 on the highway with the conventional 4 speed automatic transmission, falling short of the Toyota Yaris’ 29 city/36 highway and the Honda Fit’s 28 city/34 highway. In addition, the CVT or Continuously Variable Transmission get EPA at 27 city and 33 highway, and the Versa’s 6-speed manual provides 26 city and 31 highway.
The standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System also preserved the fuel efficiency.
Not like the Scion xD and the Honda Fit, Nissan Versa does not grant the sportiness and the agility of handing. That’s partly make Versa slightly too-high center of gravity. But as a tradeoff, with more relaxed and softly tuned ride, Nissan Versa is the better choice for those who enjoy long journey or long commutes.
Maybe the Nissan Versa still in the shadow of the Yaris and the Fit, but it aptly claims the third position on this category – long roster of subcompacts. I think, with base MSRP by $13,600, Nissan Versa it is one of the most budget friendly option for small families, long haul commuters, and everyone who has searching for best interior space and comfy.
