Honda Accord Hybrid – Overview

Nowadays the development trend and increasing interest in protecting the environment, and saving the Earth’s energy resources by wasting as little as possible has materialized at least in the auto making’s field. We are talking about the appearance of a new vehicle’s type: the hybrid. Honda is the one of car manufacturers that have committed to this approach, coming up with a number of hybrid cars such as Honda Insight or Honda Accord Hybrid. This Honda Accord Hybrid was built between 2005 and 2007 by Marysville, Ohio and Sayama, Japan.

The newer models of the Honda Accord Hybrid are Honda Accord Diesel and Honda FCX Clarity. The Honda Accord Hybrid’ class is mid-size. This is actually a 4 door sedan with an FF layout. It relies on a 3.0L V6 engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The other features of the Honda Accord include the wheelbase of 107.9 in, the length of 189.5 in (in 2005) and 191.1 in (in 2006 – 07), the width of 71.4 in (in 2005) and 71.7 in (in 2006 – 07), the height of 57.0 in (in 2005) and 57.2 in (in 2006 – 07). Honda Accord and Honda Inspire are the other vehicles that has related to the Honda Accord Hybrid.

Honda Accord Hybrid mentioned is a hybrid combination of the North American Honda Accord which was provided in 2005 – 2007 model years. This vehicle model followed the other hybrid models from the Honda manufacturers: Honda Civic Hybrid and Honda Insight Hybrid. This Accord – third in the line of Honda hybrids, was valued $3,000 more than the Accord EX V6 and it maintained the same trim and quality levels, except the 2005 model which didn’t have the power sunroof. Thus, the Honda Accord Hybrid holds at the top position of the Honda lineup.

This hybrid car has an equal displacement as compared to the conventional Accord V6 (7^th generation) power plant; yet the Honda Accord Hybrid’s horse power peculiarity of this vehicle is comes from the Honda Odyssey Minivan model of 2005. This vehicle has the capacity to shut down 3 out of the 6 cylinders in order to save fuel, but only under certain conditions. This technology regarding the cylinders is known as VCM or Variable Cylinder Management and it was patented by Honda. The engine of this vehicle features iVTEC technology and also provides a very modern compact transmission. This new transmission specificity makes the insertion of the electric motor inserted between the transmission train and the gas engine. The fuel economy in this Honda Accord Hybrid was initially rated at 29 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. With such huge properties, it’s no wonder that the Honda Accord Hybrid won the Canadian Car of the Year Best New Alternative Power Award in 2005.
