Toyota Prius dominated hybrid 2007 car sales market in the United States. With over 51 percent of the market, hybrid 2007 car sales in the United States increased 38 percent compared to the previous year to be 350,289 units with Toyota Prius sales alone rose 46 percent compared to 2006.
Director of Industry Analysis at Polk, RL Polk & Co. Lonnie Miller (R. L. Polk & Co. is the premier provider of automotive information and marketing solutions), as quoted Associated Press, Monday, 21 April 2008, said that the hybrid 2007 users tend to increase over the fuel price increase. This happens even when car sales declined about 3 percent, hybrids cars to grow significantly.
Growth is also influenced the choice of the number of hybrid cars. Currently, there are 4-6 competing midsize hybrid 2007 electric vehicles on the market: Honda Accord Hybrid, Toyota Camry, Lexus GS 450h, Toyota Prius, Nissan Altima, and GM Saturn Aura. While competing for SUVs hybrid 2007 electric vehicles are: Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Mazda Tribut (The Toyota Prius has a stronghold on the midsize car hybrid 2007 segment, the Toyota Highlander and Ford Escape share leadership positions in the SUV hybrid 2007 segment)
Last year, the portion of the sale of hybrid cars is only 2.2 percent of total car sales overall in the U.S. Next year, hybrid car demand will continue to increase.
The benefits of hybrid cars do not need to doubt, Edmunds automotive website reveals that electric hybrid is able to save the cost of treatment up to USD 3,000 cars each year. The amount does not include saving the consumption of fuel reach USD 2000 – USD 3000 each year. Hybrids only use an average of 20.3 km / liter of fuel.
