Nowadays people have a huge concern about the environment. Among the efforts made in the preservation of the natural world interest in particular has been awaken in so far as saving the Earth’s energy sources and global warming effects are concerned. Therefore engineers, scientists, and automobile manufacturers have come together to create green vehicles or at least to adjust the existing one to become more eco-friendly and fuel efficiency.

And a hybrid vehicle becomes one of the most important to save our environment. They success create more varied of hybrid vehicles, and hybrid pickup trucks is taken an important part in this field. Why hybrid pickups are taken an important part and we should make hybrid pickups as the object of our interest? Well, as you know, if the trucks absence, all of goods transportation would be paralyzed. The hybrid pickup trucks – as the big vehicles – are huge fuel drinkers and the industry of transportation is equally vast.

Nowadays the awareness of preserving the environment is superior than ten years ago, and hybrid pickups follow exactly this line of thought – more respect for resources is obvious in their exploitation. Apparently, in the vehicle industry, hybrid pickups represent one of the most popular hybrid items. Consumers are like to apply technical achievements in their fields of activity. But hybrid pickups are not the only ones – fuel flex pickups freight trucks, hybrid electric, and lots of other models – get the attention of users and dominate the market too. All in all, hybrid pickups are the vehicles of the future. In fact, a couple of hybrid pickup trucks have been launched in 2008, and will continue to come in 2009 and 2010.

And now, hybrid pickups become more and more popular. Many of automobile manufacturers see this opportunity and involved in this adjusting process, they have already come up with different types and models of hybrid pickups even if they are not the full versions, we are all interested in and willing to have available. Toyota, Dodge, Chevy, GMC, Eaton, Kenworth, and International Truck Engine have suggested some mild version of hybrid pickups. An advantage of hybrid pickups is the considerable lowering of the noise level besides the energy saving benefits. Hybrid pickup trucks are cleaner, safer, and silent to use: all you need to do is get the idea of an investment and get to work!

After you read the Hybrid Pickups, you may read my other articles such as: Daimler Hybrid, Toyota Highlander Hybrid, Audi Q7, Chevy Hybrid Truck, Chevrolet Aveo, BMW X6, Hybrid Gasoline Electric, Hybrid Cars History, Infiniti M35, 2011 Mini Cooper, Hybrid Car Pros and Cons, 2011 Lexus CT 200h, 2011 Lexus LS 600h, BMW Vision, 2011 BMW 5 Series Hybrid, Used Hybrid Car-1, Used Hybrid Car-2, Used Hybrid Cars, Hybrid Car Engine, Used Automobiles, and Hybrid Vans.

Dogde will reveal a hybrid version in 2010, especially in the case of Ram pickups. One can guess that it was called the Dodge Ram Hybrid in 1500. Chrysler Roger Benevento, a communications manager jeep and Dodge trucks, said in February 2009 that he would not discuss details of the Dodge Ram Hybrid, but the company will introduce the Dodge Ram Hybrid in 2010. However, it is unfortunate that rate for a good two years by GM is the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Hybrid coming in February and March 2009.

Timing is Everything

Chrysler says it will add a hybrid model and type to pick up line in January 2008. Based on that notification, displays the company’s hybrid Ram 5.7 liter Hemi V8 and a multi-displacement system will close the fuel cylinder 4 of 8. Standard RAM pickup the re-design in 2009 and offers a variety of machines, and taxis power long. Based on the volume of vehicles, Chrysler held the highest numbers. She held and sold 246,000 trucks in the year 2008 less than the company’s minivan. Hybrid system on the Dodge Ram Hybrid and Chrysler Aspen Hybrid SUV that weighs 5500 pounds to develop and combine the 375-horsepower electric motors and engines that can take the highway and city with 19/20 EPA miles per gallon with a capacity of 6000 pounds. Sales continued to decline and the global crisis combined to shut down Chrysler’s hybrid SUVs on the first shipment by 1000.

It’s the Economy, Stupid

Chrysler’s low-interest borrowing with government guarantees that America was forced to give President Obama’s plan of reorganization in the automotive industry in February 2009. This happens because the global vehicle market fell by around 30-40 percent. Craig Cather, president and CEO of CSM Worldwide, had seen this plan. In a February meeting of the International Motoring Press Association, he said that in one year the company will not be like now. So depending on the macroeconomic conditions that are beyond company’s control, Dodge Ram Hybrid fate is at stake. Demand for full-size SUV has all but collapsed. So high-volume full-size pickup trucks are limited to the size of a large hybrid’ vehicles. Ford, Dodge and Chevrolet (GMC) sold 1.5 million units of vehicles per year and would soon be subject to the requirements of high mileage.

A Hard-Working Hybrid

until the full-size pickup comes with a hybrid system, do not be depressed. When it arrived, GM and Chrysler would challenge that it will attract buyers and owners of commercial fleets. Most of the pickups they buy for their work. For a statement of green, it is very little to spend anything. They will spend money if they get the gasoline. We draw conclusions about the Durango Hybrid a year ago that the Durango Hybrid is not strong, capable, and practical vehicle, especially for working utilities and gas mileage does not really suck. This applies also to Ram Hybrid in 2011 when Chrysler made:

In hybrid owners’ mindset, the full sized pickup truck symbolizes all that is wrong with the American automobile: overpowered, big, and consume more of fuel. However, in reality pickups are hugely popular—commonly because a lot of American drivers need the towing and hauling capacities of a hybrid pickup truck.

The Toyota A-BAT is a 4-seat hybrid pickup trucks with a 4-foot rear bed and roof mounted solar panels to charge its onboard accessories. This hybrid pickup might appeal to all those other pickup drivers who rarely load lumber, but want spaciousness, sleek styling, versatility, and best in fuel efficiency.

An entirely new generation of hybrid pickup trucks is in the works. GMC Sierra Hybrid and Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid (version 2) hit showrooms as 2009 hybrid pickup models. The two-mode hybrid system going into hybrid pickup trucks increases fuel efficiency by 25 percent to 20 in highway and 18 in the city—far from Toyota Prius territory, but highly regarded for a 3-ton truck with a 6.0L V8 power plant under the hood.

Same with GM hybrid pickup trucks, Dodge Ram Hybrid will use the same two-mode power train, and is predicted to get roughly the same fuel economy. And in recent times, many auto companies have begun exploring the potential for a “lifestyle” hybrid pickup: a smaller and more fuel efficient hybrid pickup truck that provides a vehicle-like ride combined with modest hauling and towing capabilities.

Thankfulness to people realizing the benefits of hybrid cars, it was not long before hybrid trucks to complete their exterior. People have recognized the value of using hybrid vehicles and they have seen the quantity of fuel savings one can get by using hybrid cars, so it hop that the hybrid trucks would follow the equivalent method as hybrid SUV’s. General Motors, with their GMC Sierra Hybrid pickup and Chevy Silverado Hybrid, initiates of this trend by introducing of hybrid trucks. The launch of these hybrid trucks was not many publicized and the numbers produced too were low. The fuel economies presented by these hybrid trucks were not attraction shouting about, just 2 mpg.

As silently as when they had been introduced these hybrid trucks in 2004, the production of these trucks dropped in 2006. Realizing the prospective of such trucks, General Motors has ongoing planning it once more. Nowadays they are the only one (as automaker) in United State who are planning to manufacture full size hybrid pickups that have a capacity more than 20 mpg. A new and superior hybrid technology is being used that will allow the GMC Sierra hybrid stand up heads and shoulders above the other competitor in this category which available in the market. The GMC Sierra Hybrid, as a new avatar, will have a 25% improvement over its fuel sibling as far as mileage is concerned and GMC Sierra Hybrid will also offers 40% higher fuel economy.

This hybrid system that is being jointly developed between General Motors, Daimler, and BMW will permit all electric and gas free driving at low speeds. 4 of its 8 cylinders of Sierra Hybrid will remain turned off under these conditions. This hybrid pickup truck will boast a V8 engine 6 liter with 332 hp. The most important or the key idea is to offer greatest fuel savings to the drivers by providing them savings in gasoline when driving at highway speeds. Keep these factors in mind, GMC Sierra Hybrid is being designed to provided maximum fuel efficiency even when Sierra Hybrid is fully loaded or even when it is towing a trailer. However, there is a slight deficit as far as the towing capabilities is concerned.

The GMC Sierra Hybrid can only haul 6,100 pounds while certain conventional – gas powered Sierras can simply haul up to 10,500 pounds. There is also a sacrifice in room behind the back row with in the cabin space being forfeited to make way for a 300 volt nickel metal hybride battery. Most trucks lover will not mind trading this space in barter for the fuel efficiency this hybrid truck provides along with the smooth ride it offers. To augment thoroughfare driving smoothness, especially on choppy and rough road surfaces, a modern hydraulic mount has been introduced which is located on the sie of the chassis where the passenger sits. The GMC Sierra Hybrid boasts of superior aerodynamics and the 300 volt AC (air conditioning) compressor that runs off electricity cools the customers section even when the gas engine is switch off. There are many other features that guarantee that this hybrid pickup truck will find success that evaded its forerunner.

Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid: GM has produced the first pickup trucks with use two mode hybrid systems that would be completely as qualified as their conventional one. The 2WD versions of the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid and its sister, the 2009 GM Sierra Hybrid – can tow up to 6,100 pounds and still deliver mileage of about 21 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. These hybrid trucks will be available in early 2009.

The 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2WD Crew Cab Hybrid starting price at $38,995; adding the luxury package takes about $44,155.

Fuel Economy and Payback of Silverado Hybrid

Of course, if you compare to your average Toyota Prius driver, 22 mpg may still seem profligate. But let us takes careful explanation – let us look at the math – to make the case that this hybrid trucks will big helps cut US oil imports.

If we compare with a non hybrid pickup which returns just 14 mpg (city)/ 20 mpg (highway), and the racking up 10,000 miles a year, split equally between city and highway travel, the hybrid system will saves about 140 gallons of gasoline a year. That’s more fuel efficient than you would keep from a Toyota Camry to a Toyota Camry Hybrid.

Nowadays, purchasers will receive about $2,200 federal tax credit. That means the benefits, using $2/gallon gasoline, is somewhere around four years-no less than until GM’s credits pass on. Spending more time in stop-and-go traffic, or racking up higher mileage, cuts the payback time. And if gasoline should return to the $4 per gallon levels of summer 2008, payback would speed up even further.
